ABSTRACT
One of the limiting factors for the Semantic Web to be exploited into nowadays web applications is the great complexity associated to semantic elaboration which almost always includes logical reasoning, natural language processing, manipulation of different kinds of data, etc. The availability of easy to use APIs and platforms can enable the integration of semantics on the current web by hiding the complexity under a set of well defined services, accessible via standard technologies. This paper introduces an enhanced semantic platform (H-DOSE) in which the joint adoption of Web Services and Multi Agent Systems enables the provision of easy to access, autonomic and semantic indexing, searching and deep-searching functionalities. Semantic functionalities have been integrated into an existing content management system by interfacing with the H-DOSE platform. Results show that, by adopting the proposed platform, semantic functionalities can be made available to users without any additional overload on the content creation and maintenance workflow. Moreover autonomic and deep-search capabilities allow together continuous improvements in search and navigation results by constantly keeping the knowledge base of the platform up to date.
